Hello everyone! Thank you Jessica for starting this community on here, can’t wait to try working or sketching, I should say, my new garden plans for this year! Looking forward to a great growing season in zone 5b, in the southwest suburbs of Chicago!

Jessica Welcome to the group, Sheila!

Hello. I'm Nichole. We've been gardening in our front and back yards for at least 5 years now, but I've only just started tracking and documenting the sowing and harvesting process. I want to keep track of what we're planting to know what grew well and what did not. We have an awesome harvest of collard greens, cauliflour and broccoli, so we want to make sure we can duplicate our efforts in years to come and on a larger scale in the future. We're in FL (Zone 9) so we have a longer grow season. Looking forward to using this program and learning from everyone here.

Jessica I need your secrets for cauliflower abd broccoli. I never get good harvests!!

Hi Jessica. I am in central California and can grow some things year round. My last frost date is March 8th though I think will be later this year. 😉I tried Winter sowing this year with onions, pak choi and broccoli. All came up great. Will be transfering to beds after this string of storms let up. I may not need to Winter sow as I can direct sow these thing but it did give me good germination. And it was fun to try something new.

Jessica How fun! I'm kind of jealous of your growing season 😂

Hi Jessica and TRH community! Jessica, thank you for sharing this site and explaining it on this weeks video. I am on Guam we're zone 13 I grow lots of tropical fruit and warm season veggies year round. I raise lots of container veggies because as a military family we've moved 13 times and I've gardened in each location around the country. Hopefully I can be of some help! I also teach free classes to military spouses about food preservation. I just taught a class about how to container garden on Guam this past week! Hopefully I can introduce you to some amazing Asian varieties of peppers, beans, greens, and eggplants that you might be able to grow in your zones. Can't wait to watch this community grow. A few fruits that I grow are Papaya, Soursop, Mango, Pineapple, Dragonfruit, lots of bananas, coconut, starfruit, kefir lime, and calamansi. We grow lots of American tomato, pepper, eggplant, and okra varieties. My greens are mostly asian because of the heat. We grow Bok Choy, Long Beans, Wing Beans, Kang Kong (like spinach), some warm season lettuce and spinach and lots of Sweet Potatoes and their greens to eat, and Taro root. I also grow Cassava root and greens for my chickens.

Jessica Oh, wow! So glad you joined the group. I will definitely be picking your brain!!

I am located in southern WI. I am excited to use the Hortisketch and manager program as I try new seeds and improve my gardening. I have a small plot in the city, but most would say it is a huge garden. I am starting some seeds this week! Thanks Jessica!

Jessica Welcome to the group!

I actually have a question about the Hortisketch program. I am not seeing a way to change the plant spacing in the program. Is that impossible or am I just missing it? All the spacing seems to be for the traditional row planting type garden, but I am doing a square foot type garden. Trying to figure out if I can change the settings anywhere. According to the program, I can only grow 5 tomato plants and 8 pepper plants in one of my 4x16 beds. Last year I grew 24 tomato plants, onions and a bunch of greens in one and 24 tomato plants, garlic and bush beans in another, LOL. So I know it is possible to do, I am just wanting to know if it is possible to sketch it out in the program. :)

Thank you so much for sharing about this site in your video! I am in central Ohio and looking forward to getting my second year of gardening underway. I just did a small in-ground garden last year, but am hoping to grow it this year and just ordered some of the beds you linked in your video as well. I am ready to learn from all of you seasoned gardeners out there :)

I am so glad you told us about this site, it is exactly what I was looking for! Looking forward to this years garden!

Hi TRH Family! I've been gardening for years, but are moving to a new area in E TN in the coming few months. I've already built 4 raised beds to start but will be expanding in the next few months. I need this to keep me organized and focused. I couldn't garden last year so I am really looking forward to getting started this year!

Jessica Thank you for joining us here!

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be a part of this community. This will be my 5th year gardening, and while I am by no means an expert, I am excited to use my successes and failures from years past to make this year the most productive ever! I have a paper garden journal, but this site looks like it will make things a little more convenient. :) I am hopeful to have an abundant harvest this year to be able to preserve by pressure canning and dehydrating. I have 3 boys (5, 4 and 9 months) who love to garden and cook with me. So ready for gardening season!

Tommy Tomatoes Gardening is such a great family activity!
